
On May 22 2017, a suicide bombing was carried out in Manchester arena during an Ariana Grande concert. Over 500 adults and children were injured and 116 were seriously harmed and 22 died. After the bombing Ariana herself took to twitter saying “broken. from the bottom of my heart, I am so so sorry. I don’t have words. This tweet became the most liked in history. One love Manchester was announced a few days later on May 26th as a beneficial concert for the victims of the attack.
proceeds from the event were given to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund, these funds helped victims and their families. British Red Cross reportedly received more than 10 million in donations in the 12 hours following the concert. Network form 50 countries broadcast it worldwide. It was the number 1 event of the year.
Many celebrity took part in this concert either performing or sending in a video. Acts such as; Anne Marie, Demi Lovato, Camilla Cabello, Stevie Wonder, Take That, Miley Cyrus, Niall Horan, Little Mix, Katy Perry and many more all coming together supporting Manchester.
It was an extremely emotional night and ended with a beautiful performance from Ariana singing “Somewhere over the Rainbow”
The total amount of money raised was 17 million, which was all donated to victims and charity’s as an apology from Ariana herself
