
Queen are a British rock band formed in London, 1970. They are one of the biggest bands in history with an estimate of 170-300 million records sold world wide. Queen received the Outstanding Contribution to British Music Award in 1990. Each member composed hit singles and all four were inducted into the songwriters hall of fame in 2003. Queen were presented the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
Live aid
July 13, 1985, Live aid was held. In front of the biggest ever TV audience (1.9 billion people) Queen performed their greatest hits. The audience clapped and swayed in unison and Queen were said to be the highlight of the concert. Mercury’s powerful sustained note came to be known as “The note heard around the world” From this point Queen was revitalized due to Live aid.
